Evaluate Your Products' Performance

A useful product has the content and functionality that your users want. Why not ask them what those things are? Delivering on user expectations is the foundation of creating a good experience and a successful product.

By pairing user research with user experience design, you can design something that builds on the learning gained from user research. The desires expressed during research are carried through into the design.

Here are a few examples of how User Insight helps our clients:

Real Estate and Construction

"How can User Insight help us find out what potential home buyers want from our website?"

A home building company asks for a comparison of their website to several of their competitors. To uncover feedback on the design and layout of home builders' websites and identify appropriate content and design solutions we explore:

  • What content do home buyers need to purchase a house?
  • How do they navigate the websites?
  • What type of layout and site features are preferred?

We use heuristics to determine best practices among competitive sites. These point out potential problem areas to examine with users in formal usability assessments. The findings inform a “best of breed” strategy and shape our design recommendations.

Automotive

"How can User Insight help us make our online used car dealership management tool more usable?"

The client asks User Insight to evaluate customer and non-customer reactions to the content, navigation and usability of their web-based application. To uncover usability issues, we test the latest version of the online application with current and prospective users.

User Insight asks used car dealers to provide feedback the type and amount of information they need included in the application. We also ask them to evaluate the ease of site navigation. The findings reveal a number of usability issues, but more importantly, the type and amount of information that users need and want is different from what is provided. Even a very usable application is not helpful if the content isn’t wanted or useful.
